Yanmar Diesel Pump (YDP) pumping

Yanmar Powering Reliable Water Pump and Generator Solutions

Yanmar Diesel Pump (YDP) pumping

Selecting the right engine is a critical decision that water pump and generator original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) face when designing and developing industrial equipment. This choice shapes product reliability, efficiency, and market perception. With over a century of engineering excellence, Yanmar engines provide the foundation for creating equipment that customers can rely on during the most challenging situations.

Pumps

The continuous operation requirements of many pumping applications, from dewatering construction sites to agricultural irrigation, require engines capable of running reliably for thousands of hours with minimal downtime. Yanmar’s industrial engines are specifically engineered for these extended duty cycles. Environmental exposure adds another layer of complexity, with pump systems often deployed outdoors in harsh settings from dusty construction zones to humid agricultural fields or even partially submerged conditions.

Because pumps frequently experience fluctuating demand due to changing water levels, pressure requirements, or flow rates, the engines that power them need to excel at handling variable loads. Yanmar engines maintain optimal performance through responsive governor systems and flat torque curves that adjust demand variations.

The Yanmar TNV Series water-cooled diesel engines provide ideal power sources for pump solutions given their reliable performance and proven use in rugged environments. Available in 3- and 4-cylinder versions with a four-cycle, inline configuration, the series offers mid-range requirements for construction dewatering or agricultural irrigation (19-72 HP). In addition, Yanmar makes its own line of pumps. The YDP series of pumps features Yanmar L-Series diesel engines in applications running up to 10 HP.

Generators

Generator systems must start immediately and perform flawlessly, often after extended idle periods, when primary power fails or as needed to power equipment on jobsites. Yanmar’s diesel engines offer reliable standby power for large generators and compact air-cooled engines for portable auxiliary generators,

When using generators, voltage and frequency must remain stable to protect sensitive equipment or keep operations running during emergencies. The TNV Series is an excellent choice for backup power generators given its reliable standby power options, cold-start capabilities and dependability in continuous operation. Load response capabilities represent another critical factor, as backup power generators and emergency stationary engines must quickly adapt to sudden power demands without significant frequency or voltage dips. Yanmar’s TNV Series also uses direct injection, variable valve timing, and common rail systems to help the engine meet the strict NTE and NRTC test requirements for Final Tier 4 emission standard set by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and EU Stage V.

For smaller portable generators, Yanmar’s L-Series of air-cooled engines provide reliable power in a lightweight design and compact dimensions (4.6-10 HP).

Yanmar Engine OEM Partners

We’re pleased to partner with multiple pump and generator manufacturers who have chosen Yanmar engines for their equipment. Among them, Xylem-Godwin and MWI Pumps include Yanmar-powered options in their pump portfolios while Martin Engineered Products and Aurora Power Solutions use Yanmar engines in select generator models. These represent just a few examples from the broader ecosystem of OEMs who rely on Yanmar engines to power their equipment.

Yanmar offers equipment OEMs a collaborative engine design approach, providing customization to match the required specifications for new product designs. The company’s engineers work directly with OEM counterparts to certify engine quality and performance through a detailed testing program.
